I have been using this filter media for almost a month. I use it as a pre-filter for a 1500 gal pond with 20 goldfish. I cut it with scissors without any difficulty. It is coarse, somewhat stiff and 1” thick, it captures a lot of debris and is keeping the pond clear. Initially I had to clean it once a day but now am cleaning it every 4 days and only takes 5 minutes to blast all the waste out of it with the garden hose.
