ClassicBlue aquarium filter pads work great in either saltwater or freshwater aquariums. Their open fiber network easily traps large or small particles suspended in the water. Although the pads have both a white side and blue side, the two sides are otherwise identical. Water can flow through either side and the pad will still trap waste.
We have used many other aquarium filter pads and found their dyes came off, discoloring the water to pink, orange, or blue. The resin used to keep these pads together was water-resistant, but not waterproof. The formula we found for our ClassicBlue filter pad is totally waterproof and will not leach into the water.
ClassicBlue filter pads are easy to cut to any shape needed to fit your filter. Create your own cardboard template to keep your pads consistent. Make a stack of filter pads cut to fit your filter that are ready to go. When you are ready to clean your filter, simply throw the old one away and put the new one in.
These are available in:
- 12inches by 6 feet long,
- 12 inches by 12 feet long
- 12 inches by 24 feet long.
The material is made of 100% polyester, so they are easy to clean and reuse. We make them cheap enough to toss away after each use but tough enough to last a long time if you choose to rinse them for reuse. The more often you change your filter pads, the better your water quality will be as excess nutrients are trapped by the pad and removed.
Try layering our Polishing Pad underneath the ClassicBlue. Water will flow through the ClassicBlue first, trapping larger waste. Then, water flows through the Polishing Pad to trap finer particles, making your water crystal clear.
We also offer our premium dual density filter pad, FilterFirst. This material has two distinct layers. The first is an open fiber network to trap medium to large particles. The other layer is a tighter weave for smaller particles that is similar to, although not as tight as our Polishing Pads. The two layers are knitted and bonded to prevent them from separating. Choose the material or combination that is best for your tank.
