PondFirst Troubleshooting Manual
Learn how to successfully use PondFirst in your pond!

Whenever you add tap water or city water to your pond you need to remove the chlorine and/or chloramines to make it safe for your koi and other livestock. These chemicals are added to municipal water supplies to kill harmful bacteria and keep us safe. Unfortunately, chlorine and chloramines are dangerous for our aquatic pets. Aquatic Experts’ PondFirst Water Conditioner instantly removes chlorine and chloramines to make it safe for fish. It comes as either a powder or liquid.
Most dechlorinators use compounds with sulphur, which gives the chemical a pungent rotten-egg smell. Aquatic Experts took a new approach to make our TankFirst conditioner so that it is just as effective without that bad smell. We used that formula to make our concentrated PondFirst conditioner to treat ponds.
PondFirst is very easy to use, although you’ll need to do a little math if you don’t already know how much water you need to treat. To estimate the volume of water, multiply the average width, length, and depth in feet, then multiply that by 7.5 to get the gallons. Remember, if you’re just topping off the pond you only need to treat the water you’re adding, not the whole pond.
Once you have that estimate, follow the dosage guidelines provided on the packaging. They can also be found on our website! To get the best results using the powder version of PondFirst, mix it with water in a bucket until it dissolves before adding it to the pond. Liquid PondFirst works just as well, but the lightweight powder gives you a little more bang for your buck. PondFirst works instantly so there’s no danger for the livestock in your pond.

PondFirst will also temporarily detoxify harmful ammonia. You may still need to do a water change to remove the ammonia, but PondFirst will protect your fish for about 48 hours, giving you time to jump on the problem.
At Aquatic Experts we’re proud of the work we’ve done to make the best version of water conditioner that we can. It works great without having a terrible smell.
