300 Count Bio Ball Filter Media with Mesh Bag - 1.5 Inch Large
OUTSTANDING FILTRATION! Each bio ball is covered in spines to dramatically increase the surface area of each ball to nearly 2 square feet providing space for a massive number of beneficial bacteria to colonize. These good bacteria break down harmful organic waste keeping your aquatic friends safe. You will receive approximately 300 1-1/2-inch bio balls in a mesh bag. Just rinse and use.
TOUGH AND UNIQUE! Our bio balls’ spherical shape and precise spine placement permits them to pack tightly into any shape or filter type without losing surface area. Molded from high density plastic, these balls are lightweight but tough enough to keep their shape and will never degrade or wear out. Bio balls can be used loose or in the mesh bag with plastic zipper.
TRUSTED! Our Bio balls are 100% polypropylene making them a safe reliable biological filtration media for fresh and saltwater. They are manufactured for use in koi and water garden ponds, freshwater fish tanks, saltwater aquariums, aquaponics, fish hatcheries and much more.
SUPERIOR TO LAVA ROCK: Over time, porous lava rock becomes clogged with d debris decreasing its surface area so that its ability to house and grow good beneficial bacteria plummets. Our bio balls’ uniquely spaced spines allow most debris to pass right through them. Lava rock has tiny pores which make it difficult to clean while bio balls in most applications never need cleaning. A bag of wet lava rock is many times heavier than our bio balls.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - Aquatic Experts Bio Balls with Mesh Bag QUESTION: How easy is it to clean the bio balls? ANSWER: Typically you do not need to clean bio balls since most filters use a prefilter pad to remove most of the debris before water flows to the bio balls. In an outside pond, bio balls may require cleaning. In this case it is best to take a bucket of water from your pond, and swish the balls around in this water to preserve the good bacteria attached to the surface of the bio balls. QUESTION: How long should the bio balls last? ANSWER: Our Bio balls are made from high density plastic so they should never degrade or wear out. QUESTION: I have a 1,000 gallon water garden pond. How many bio balls do I need? ANSWER: Typically, our 300 pack of bio balls will handle the bio-load of a typical stocked pond. With this said there are variables which effect how heavy a bio-load is in a pond including: how many fish, their size, how often they are fed, and so on. The only way to know if you have enough bio balls is to test your water for ammonia or nitrites. If you detect ammonia or nitrite levels in your pond water ( not caused from overfeeding or a dead fish) add more bio balls. QUESTION: Does your mesh bag have a metal or plastic zipper? ANSWER: Our mesh bag has a fish-safe plastic zipper.

Our Filter Socks Help Keep Your Aquarium Clean and Healthier
The interlocking micro-denier felt fibers are perfect for trapping uneaten food, waste excreted by livestock, decaying plants, detritus, dust, and other floating particulates.
Changing filter socks regularly increases water quality by removing collected solid organic compounds before they continue to break down and add additional nutrients (which can increase algae growth) to your aquarium water.
Directions
Rinse new filter socks with clean fresh water and wring them out before using them in your filter.

Our Experience
I owned an aquarium store (and a separate aquarium maintenance company) for over 25 years during which I spent a lot of time and resources searching out and testing countless filter socks to find the best for my clients. Fortunately, one stood above the rest giving consistent and repeatable filtration performance in all types of aquariums. These long-lasting heavy-duty filter socks are the best the industry has to offer!
FILTER SOCKS FAQQ: Is the 100-micron or 200-micron better for my aquarium?A: The lower the micron rating, the more floating debris it removes hence the filter socks clog up faster. Many hobbyists have both 100 and 200-micron filter socks which allow them to swap out their 200-micron socks from time to time.Q: How often should I change the filter socks?A: It depends on the tank load, but generally you want to change your filter socks once a week or every two weeks. The more often you change your filter socks, the better your water quality; it removes organic solids before they have a chance to further break down.Q: Is it better to use a longer sock with more socks hanging in the filtered water than a shorter one?A: Ideally the filter sock should be hanging in the water without touching or laying on the bottom of the sump. If a shorter sock is above the water line there may be more noise as water drains from the sock side and splashes into the water In your sump.Q: Is there a glaze finish on these filter socks? the glaze makes them less flexible and stiffer. or are they untreated?A: Our socks are untreated. The felt is soft, flexible, and perfect for trapping floating debris from the water.Q: Has anyone verified if Aquatic Experts filter socks will work with the reefer?A: We have personally tested Our filter socks in the reefer sliding shelf sock holder. Our filter sock material is thick and our plastic ring is slightly too large to drop through the hole in the shelf.Q: What makes Aquatic Experts felt filter socks better than any other brand?A: Owning an aquarium store and service company for 25 years meant that we had to test countless filter socks to find the best ones. One stood above the rest giving consistent and repeatable filtration performance in freshwater, saltwater, and reef tanks.

Black Pond Filter Pad FAQ:Q: Can this take the place of the round tube filters I buy? If so, how would you faster it so it doesn't come loose?A: I am not sure what your round tube filter looks like or what it is made of. Our pond filter pad can be wrapped around a pipe and fastened with plastic cable ties. If you can provide more information about the tube filter we can better answer your question.Q: Is this similar to Matala media, can it be used in a marine aquarium sump?A; Our Coarse Pond Filter Pad is designed to be used in ponds. We have not tested it in marine aquariums. We recommend our FilterFirst True Dual Density Filter Roll for freshwater and marine aquariums.Q: Is this carbon coated?A: Our Classic pond Filter pad fibers are not carbon coated. The filter pad is black from a thick coating Of latex which gives it strength and durability. Since our filter pads will last much longer than carbon in a pond we recommend using activated carbon in a mesh bag which can be replaced on a regular basis.Q: My pond is under a tree, should I use both your black and white pond filter pad?A: Yes, have the water flow through our black coarse pad to trap leaves and larger particles then flow through our white pad to trap the smaller particles from your pond water.Q: Can it be cut with regular house scissors to fit inside my filter?A: We suggest you make a template Of your Old filter out Of cardboard then use the template and strong scissors or a utility knife to cut the pad.
